Today we combined our lesson from Monday and Tuesday to complete sequences of transformations! We also discussed study habits to retain the rotation and reflection rules (flashcards). Study tonight for tomorrow's quiz!

Today we learned the rules of rotations to rotate figures about the origin as well as a point not on the origin. Practice can be found on p. 30-33 of packet.
We also began our first assignment on DeltaMath.com. It is due this Friday, as is the pre-course work given at the end of last semester. Today we practiced the rules of Translations and Reflections. Our classwork was from pages 24-27 of the packet. Homework is on pages 28-29.
Reflection Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=naxqDsrmix8 Reflect Over Any Line www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vUvxfd4Cj8 On Friday we took our first quiz and began notes over isometric transformations.
Today we applied the Base Angles Theorem and Exterior Angle Theorem to find angles of triangles (p. 14-17 of packet).
Make sure to complete the quiz review tonight for homework (p. 18-19 of packet)! Parallel Lines and Transversals www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHL_sviMLG8 Today we found angles of parallel lines cut by a transversal. In order to help with the homework tonight (page 11 of the packet), I encourage you to peruse the videos over Alternate Interior Angles, Alternate Exterior Angles, Corresponding Angles, and Consecutive Interior Angles.
Angle Properties (Math Song) www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eD3wODClh8 Angle Pair Relationships virtualnerd.com/geometry/fundamentals/angle-pair-relationships/ Today we finished our notes on angle relationships and had our first graded practice (pages 7-8 of unit packet)! Afterward students played "Angle Wars," a card game in which two students would draw a card and find the sum; the first to find the angle's supplement or complement would win those cards until all cards were used. I recommend "practicing" this game at home to speed up mental math and also differentiate between complementary and supplementary!
Let me start by saying this has been a fantastic start to my year! I am super stoked to see how we are going to grow together as a class and accomplish our learning goals!
Today we looked over the syllabus and shared our math stories as well introduced ourselves to the vocab of Unit 1 (pages 1-3 of unit packet). |
